Frequently asked questions

Answers to what you're wondering about

Here we've collected answers to what customers most often ask us. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, you're always welcome to get in touch.

Is the site visit and quote really free and non-binding?

Yes, we always offer a free, no-obligation site visit and quote. You pay nothing unless you decide to go ahead with the job.

Which areas does Elektro Partner cover?

We're based in Fyllingsdalen and take on work across Bergen, as well as Arna, Fana, Øygarden and Askøy.

How much does it cost to hire an electrician?

The price depends on the scope of the job. We always give you a concrete, no-obligation quote after a free site visit, so you know exactly what the job will cost before we start.

How often should I have an electrical inspection done on my home?

We recommend an electrical inspection when selling or buying a home, and otherwise every 5–10 years for older systems. The inspection can uncover faults and defects before they become a problem, and the documentation is logged in Boligmappa.no.

Where can I see the documentation?

We log all documentation of completed work in Boligmappa.no, a digital service record for your home, so you always have an overview and can easily find it again.

When should I replace my fuse box?

You should consider replacing your fuse box if it's old (often more than 20–30 years), still has screw fuses instead of circuit breakers, or lacks a residual-current device, which provides important extra protection against electric shock. Other signs are fuses tripping often, the box feeling warm, or planning a larger upgrade such as EV charging. We're happy to give your fuse box a free assessment.

Why does my fuse keep tripping?

This can have several causes: too many appliances on the same circuit (overload), a short circuit, an earth fault, or the fuse or breaker itself being faulty or worn out. Recurring problems should always be checked by an electrician, as it can be a sign of something that needs fixing before it becomes a safety risk.

Are you a registered and authorised electrical contractor?

Yes, Elektro Partner AS is a registered electrical contractor and a member of Sikringen, so you can trust that the work is carried out according to regulations.

Can you install an EV charging point at home?

Yes, we install EV charging points both at home and at work, with the right fuse size and capacity for your property.

Can underfloor heating cable be installed yourself?

No, underfloor heating cable must be installed and connected to the power supply by an authorised electrician. This matters both for the warranty on the system and so the work is properly documented, which you'll need, for example, if you later sell the property.

What can I do myself without an electrician?

As a homeowner you can do simple maintenance such as replacing light bulbs and screw fuses. All work on the fixed electrical installation, such as new circuits, replacing switches and sockets, or connecting underfloor heating or fixed appliances, must be carried out by a registered electrician. Doing this kind of work yourself isn't just illegal, it can also be genuinely dangerous: faulty electrical work is one of the most common causes of house fires, and your insurance company can refuse to pay out if the work wasn't done by a professional.

Do you take on both small service jobs and larger projects?

Yes. Most of our jobs are service and troubleshooting, but we also take on larger projects such as new builds and full renovations.

How do I book a site visit or send an enquiry?

The easiest way is to fill out the form on our contact page, and we'll get in touch as soon as possible. You can also call or email us directly.

What does it mean that documentation is logged in Boligmappa.no?

Boligmappa.no is a digital "service record" for your home. We log documentation of completed work there, so you always have an overview and good documentation if you ever sell.
